The Varykino villa, filmed at Lake Como.
- "It is a staggeringly beautiful place..."
- ―Ayesha Dharker, on visiting Lake Como
Lake Como (Italian:Lago di Como) is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, Italy. It has an area of 146 km², making it the third largest lake in Italy. At 410 m deep it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the bottom of the lake is more than 200 meters below sea-level.
Three locations were filmed for Attack of the Clones in Lake Como; Villa del Balbianello, Tremezzo public garden and Picnic meadow, but the Tremezzo public garden was cut in the final edit. All three sequences show Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala at Varykino on Naboo. The filming took place on the first week of September 2000 and lasted four days.
