- "We don't seem to be getting through to these Lahsbees at all, See-Threepio. Are you sure you're translating everything I say correctly?"
"Absolutely, Master Luke! They quite readily admit that one of the missing Rebel pilots we're searching for—Yom Argo—crashlanded and died here on Lahsbane." - ―Luke Skywalker and C-3PO
Lahsbane was a planet located in the Onatos sector of the Mid Rim, that served as the home for the Lahsbee and Huhk species—the small and peaceful Lahsbee, who lived in Lahsbane's forests, inevitably grew into the large and aggressive Huhk in the planet's cities. Remote and resource-poor, Lahsbane was left uncharted until an Imperial expedition happened across the world sometime before 3 ABY. During the Galactic Civil War, Rebel spy Yom Argo crashed and died on Lahsbane.
Description
- "Artoo says that the air here is filled with a very fine pollen... which has clogged all the intake valves."
- ―C-3PO, to Lando Calrissian
The surface of Lahsbane
A remote, resource-poor[4] world in the Mid Rim's Onatos sector,[5] Lahsbane was a planet of forests and river canyons, and was home to the Lahsbee, a small furry sentient species that lived within Lahsbane's tall grasses. However, Lahsbees eventually grew into a tall, aggressive race called the Huhks, which lived apart from their juvenile counterparts in the more modern Forbidden City. Lahsbee's forest air carried a large amount of very fine pollen, which was known to clog starship engines.[3]
History
- "Yom Argo never made it back to the fleet. He was shot down on Lahsbane."
- ―Leia Organa
The Huhk had attained a somewhat more sophisticated urban society by the time of the Galactic Civil War, while the juvenile Lahsbees made the choice to actively resist advanced technology and still traversed the Lahsbane's vast river canyons on balloons.[3] As its region was considered remote and difficult to traverse, Lahsbane was only first charted during the time of the Galactic Empire, by an Imperial expedition.[4] Lahsbane was briefly touched by the war in 3 ABY, when Rebel spy Yom Argo, fleeing Imperial pursuit after retrieving Bothan intelligence on a new Imperial superweapon, crash-landed and died on the planet. Argo's disappearance led Rebel leadership to dispatch a team helmed by Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian and Leia Organa to Lahsbane to ascertain Argo's fate and retrieve the intelligence, and they were ultimately forced to retrieve Argo's datatapes from the Forbidden City, fighting off a rampaging horde of Huhks.[3] Lahsbane ultimately became an early joiner of the Alliance of Free Planets in 4 ABY.[7]
Behind the scenes
Different sources have conflicted on Lahsbane's precise location—while The Essential Atlas and subsequent maps place Lahsbane in the Mid Rim,[5] Alien Anthology indicates that it was in the Outer Rim, near Endor.[4]
