The LJ-50 concussion rifle was a model of powerful and deadly blaster rifle produced by Arakyd Industries. After a shipment of LJ-50s was accidentally sent to a squad in the 92nd Coruscant Engineers, the squad's armorer saw their potential for breaching walls and scattering enemy troopers and so stripped them down into blaster carbines.[1]
The modified weapons proved undeniably effective and after the squad's superior officer was impressed by them. Word then reached Arakyd, who immediately put them into production alongside the LJ-50s as the LJ-40 concussion carbine.[1]
Behind the scenes
The LJ-50 concussion rifle was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Fully Operational, a 2018 supplement for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Age of Rebellion.[1] The weapons originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 2005 video game Star Wars: Republic Commando.[2]
