"Who are you?"
―Lolo Essumon, when he and Kuce confronted the heroes of Cularin[1]

Kuce was a Force-sensitive male Wookiee who worked as a bodyguard to the Bothan Lolo Essumon on the space station Burnout during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Circa 21 BBY, Kuce and Essumon engaged in a brawl with a group of freelance agents in the residential section of Burnout.

Biography

Kuce was a Force-sensitive Wookiee male who lived on the space station Burnout in orbit of the planet Zham Hlar in the Thaereian system during the latter years of the Galactic Republic. Kuce worked as the bodyguard to the Bothan Lolo Essumon and by the time of the Clone Wars the pair had established a well-honed working relationship.[1]

Circa 21 BBY,[2] Essumon and Kuce spotted the heroes of Cularin, renowned freelance agents from the Cularin system, passing through the residential section of Burnout. Noting the group to be outsiders, the pair confronted the group, with Kuce jumping across from the top of one residential cube to another to reveal his presence to the freelancers.[1]

As Kuce watched on, the freelance operatives negotiated with Essumon for information pertaining to the Trandoshan Xirossk, a Thaereian Intelligence officer who had stolen a key component from the freelancers' starship. After the one of agents attempted a mind trick against Essumon, Kuce punched the individual. A fight then broke out, resulting in the Bothan and Wookiee duo being defeated by the freelance agents.[1]

Personality and traits

Kuce had dark-colored fur. He patiently and obedient followed the instructions of his employer Lolo Essumon. He also disliked members of the Trandoshan species.[1]

Powers and abilities

Proficient in the Force powers Enhance Attribute and Battlemind, Kuce was also adept in the use of the Force to sense things, to heal himself and to dissipate energy. Though he did not understand Basic, the Wookiee was fluent in the language Shyriiwook and could comprehend Bothan.[1]

Working closely with Essumon, Kuce agreed to adhere to a pre-prepared set of instructions when in difficult situations. If the Bothan repeated back a phrase spoken by another individual, Kuce was to immediately attack the other party. Kuce also had standing orders to take Essumon's life if the Bothan gave away information without receiving payment, as a safeguard against another party utilizing the Force to coerce information from Essumon involuntarily. Another pre-agreed combat strategy of theirs was for Kuce to hold off from attacking an enemy while Essumon threw a stun grenade, then to strike in the aftermath of Essumon's volley.[1]

Equipment

Kuce wore a blast vest and was equipped with a blaster and a pair of Force-imbued combat gloves which he could utilize to deflect attacks from lightsaber weapons.[1]

Behind the scenes

Kuce appeared in The Air Up Thaere, a Star Wars Legends roleplaying module written by Morrie Mullins and Lee Pickler. The adventure was published in 2002 as the second instalment of the Looking In trilogy of the Living Force campaign.[1]

In The Air Up Thaere, the players roleplay as the heroes of Cularin and it is possible for a fight to break out, pitting Kuce and Essumon against the player characters, although it is also possible for the pair to interact with the players peacefully. If combat does break out, Kuce tried his hardest to provoke any Trandoshan player characters into single combat. If Kuce and Essumon incapacitate the players, the pair loot any stun grenades that the player characters are carrying and also, if the players are of a high roleplay experience tier, any lightsabers. In the event that the freelance agents incapacitate Essumon, Kuce flies into a rage and cannot be placated; if Kuce is immobilized Essumon surrenders to the player characters immediately.[1]

As the Living Force adventure Philology moved the campaign forward ten years to the time of the Clone Wars, Outward Bound is therefore dated to circa 21 BBY.
