A knight was a component of the board game shogi. In Shinsui Temple on the planet Rei'izu, the former Sith known as the Ronin played a game of shogi with his daughter Mirahi. The table the board was placed on existed simultaneously within the temple's kyber mirror, where Mirahi sat, and outside of it. During the game, the Ronin came to realize his opponent's identity, causing his hand to shake as he laid down a knight.[1]
Behind the scenes
A knight appeared in the 2021 non-canon novel Ronin: A Visions Novel, by Emma Mieko Candon.[1] In the real world, knights are pieces in the Japanese board game shogi whose movement consists of moving one space forward and one space diagonally forward.[2]
