"He looks…"
"As high as a kitehawk."
―Lourna Dee and Pan Eyta[1]

The kitehawk was a type of hawk.[1] In 231 BBY,[2] Pan Eyta, a Tempest Runner of the Nihil marauder organization, captured a hologram recording of the Talortai Nihil Udi Dis, who had recently gained favor with the group's leader, Marchion Ro. Eyta, who had ensured that the recovering reedug addict Dis had received a sample of the drug in order to gain information from him, described the Talortai as being as high as a kitehawk when playing the recording to fellow Tempest Runners Lourna Dee and Zeetar.[1]

Behind the scenes

The kitehawk was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[3] In Star Wars Legends, kitehawks first appeared in the 1996 novel Before the Storm.[4]
