The kite was a species of flying creature native to the Core Worlds planet Alderaan. For generations, the Alderaanian inhabitants of the world tamed two species, kites and thrantas, to act as airbourne steeds and convey individuals from one city to another.[1] Alderaan was destroyed by the Galactic Empire in 0 BBY.[2]
