- "However, Kinman Doriana is a much more interesting, and little known figure. During the Republic he had served as an aide to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine but supposedly had little active influence or power within that position."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Kinman Doriana was an aide to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine during the reign of the Galactic Republic who became a member of the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order's Select Committee during the reign of the Galactic Empire. In 35 ABY, the historian Beaumont Kin discussed Doriana in his book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire and questioned the nature of Doriana's position relative to Palpatine.
Biography
- "That he now appears to have had a leadership position within COMPNOR suggests not only that his position with Palpatine needs to be reconsidered, but that the select committee had a direct line to Palpatine himself, thereby circumventing other more established Imperial advisors like Mas Amedda and Sly Moore."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Kinman Doriana served as an aide to Sheev Palpatine (pictured).
Kinman Doriana was an individual who served as an aide to Sheev Palpatine while he was Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. Doriana supposedly held little power or active influence in his role as aide but attained a leadership position within the Select Committee of the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order during the reign of the Galactic Empire, a successor state to the Republic also controlled by Palpatine. A good number of communications to the commission from high-ranking Imperial personnel like Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin were addressed to Doriana.[1]
Historian Beaumont Kin wrote about Kinman Doriana.
Although most high-level communications from the commission were removed from Imperial archives as the Empire collapsed, making the membership of the Select Committee hard to determine for the New Republic that succeeded the Empire, the communications to Doriana that survived in other holdings allowed historian Beaumont Kin to identify the former aide as a member.[1]
In[1] his[2] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was published[1] in 35 ABY,[3] Kin described Doriana as a little-known figure who interested him far more than other committee members like Crueya Vandron and Armand Isard. The historian posited that Doriana's rise from aide to leadership suggested that his position in relation to Palpatine needed to be reconsidered and suggested that the Select Committee had a direct line to Palpatine that allowed them to circumvent Imperial advisors like Mas Amedda or Sly Moore.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Kinman Doriana was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1] The character originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, in which he was first mentioned in Timothy Zahn's 1998 novel, Vision of the Future.[4] The character then appeared for the first time in James Luceno's 2001 novel Cloak of Deception[5] and was first depicted by Douglas Chaffee for Zahn's short story "Hero of Cartao," which was published in the sixty-eighth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine[6] on June 3, 2003.[7]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
