- "Remember the people of the planet Vercrepht, how they were renowned across twenty star systems for their confidence. A scouting party walked straight into the throne room of the King of Ash on Portwoo and took possession of the entire planet, just because they acted like they owned it already."
- ―Halland Goth, to TC-99
The King of Ash was a male king of the planet Portwoo mentioned in Oolon's Star Almanac, a fictional catalog of planets and star systems that the almanac claimed were cataloged by its author, Oolon, during his travels. According to the almanac, a scouting party from the planet Vercrepht, whose people were renowned for their confidence, walked into the King of Ash's throne room and took possession of Portwoo by acting as if they already owned it.[1]
By 19 BBY,[2] the Emperor's Royal Guard commander Halland Goth and his droid TC-99 had come into possession of Oolon's Star Almanac and read the section mentioning the King of Ash.[1] That year,[2] when TC-99 was concerned about walking into the Imperial Security Bureau Central Office on the planet Coruscant after Goth asked him to secretly obtain information on the Sith Lord Darth Vader, Goth encouraged TC-99 by reminding him of how the scouting party had walked into the King of Ash's throne room.[1]
