Keelkana were creatures used as mounts by the Mon Calamari Knights of the planet Mon Cala. Mon Calamari energy lances were designed to be used from atop the back of a Keelkana.[1]
Behind the scenes
The keelkana was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2019 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying supplement Gadgets and Gear.[1] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the species first appeared in "Chapter 5" of Star Wars: Clone Wars in 2003.[2]
