Kay Vess' crew was a crew led by the criminal Kay Vess to carry out a heist.[1] Their ship was a prototype EML 850 light freighter called the Trailblazer designed in the Republic Era and last of its kind from the Clone Wars.
In 3 ABY, Cantonican thief Kay Vess unknowingly aided the Rebel Alliance cell free one of their own from Zerek Besh and was left behind. In her escape, she stole the Trailblazer, which belonged to Zerek Besh leader, Sliro Barsha and fled to Toshara, where Jaylen Vrax tracked her down after dispatching ND-5 to rescue her from being captured by bounty hunter Vail Tormin. Upon informing of her the death mark on her head, Vrax recruited Vess to help him break into Barsha's vault again, claiming there was 157 million credits worth of beskar ingots that could help pay off her death mark. Vess subsequently recruited the Rodian droidsmith Gedeek Obaz and Chadra-Fan explosive expert Ank Parako to her team, but was dismayed to discover that Vrax had also recruited her estranged mother Riko Vess to serve as a slicer and the Twi'lek rebel Asara Deyn, promising the former that he would remove the death mark that Sliro Barsha had placed on her daughter and enlisting the latter with the offer of giving the Codex to the Alliance to Restore the Republic in return.
