A male member of the Imperial personnel stationed in Jedha City on the moon Jedha was owner of the RA-7 protocol droid[1] KMD-RA-71.[2] When the Empire evacuated its forces from Jedha City[1] in 1 BBY,[3] before destroying the city with the Death Star, the droid's owner "accidentally" left KMD-RA-71 behind. This would have brought him a brief reprieve from working with an RA-7 protocol droid, which were considered unpleasant, until he was assigned a new one by the Imperial Security Bureau.[1]

KMD-RA-71's owner was first mentioned in the seventy-second issue of Star Wars: Build Your Own R2-D2, a magazine released by De Agostini in 2018.[1]
