Jimmy Smits (born July 9, 1955)[1] is an actor who portrayed Senator Bail Organa in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith as well as in the Legends video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.[3] He also reprised his role as Senator Organa in the Anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story[4] and in the limited series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.[5] Tony Gilroy and the team behind Star Wars: Andor worked hard to get Smits to return,[6] but the actor was busy with another television project and thus, in the end, could not appear. As Gilroy believed that Organa needed to appear, he was recast and played by Benjamin Bratt.[7]
