The Jewel of Yavin was a dazzling[1] blue[2] corusca gem. During the Imperial Era, the gem was auctioned off on the planet Naboo, where the galaxy's elite gathered to bid on it. As the gem had been previously stolen, the security at the auction was tight,[1] including security guards, an alarm, and an automated defense system. The jewel shared its name with[3] the planet Yavin Prime and its moon Yavin 4 in the Yavin system.[4]

An individual found a path through the most dangerous parts of the city on Naboo where the auction was being held and then bypassed a group of local criminals and the gem's security and defense system in order to steal it,[3] making 15,000 credits profit from the job.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, the Jewel of Yavin first appeared on several cards in the 2019 Fantasy Flight Games board game Star Wars: Outer Rim.[5] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it originated in The Jewel of Yavin, a 2014 Fantasy Flight Games supplement to the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game.[6] According to concept artist Lee Sandales, the Jewel of Yavin was intended to be one of the treasures in the possession of crime lord Dryden Vos in the 2018 sequel trilogy film, Solo: A Star Wars Story.[7]
