The Jakelia system was a part of the Mandalore sector[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was home to[4] the Jakelian tuft-oak tree[5] and the sentient Jakelian species.[3] It was also the origin point of[4] the Jakelian knife-dance,[6] a form of melee combat[7] that also possessed some characteristics of dancing.[6]

Behind the scenes

The Jakelia system was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square O-7.[2]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Jakelia system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Jakelian tuft-oak and Jakelian species. Given this principle, this article also makes a similar basic assumption for the Jakelian knife-dance in relation to the system.
