The JR series was a series of public works droids manufactured by Publitechnic during the final decades of the Galactic Republic[2] known for its quiet and humble work ethic.[1] The JR-8 janitorial droid was part of the JR series.[3]

The JR series was first identified in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #50, an in-universe issue of the HoloNet News[1] written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens[4] and published on the HoloNet News website on April 4, 2002.[5]
