Behind the scenes
JK-46 first appeared in the episode "Tenoo's Fastest" from the second season of the animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.[1] This droid was designed by Chris Blackstock[2] in honor of Shellie Kvilvang-O'Brien's father who first introduced her to Star Wars before his passing after the series aired.[3]

Shellie Kvilvang-O'Brien on LinkedIn (April 3, 2025): "It's all personal when you bring yourself into a project. Especially on Tenoo's Fastest. The droid JK-46 is an homage to my dad who LOVED Star Wars and everything Lucas Film. He introduced me to the world of Lucas Film and YES EVEN EWOK Adventures ! He passed away before the show premiered and I was so honored and lucky to have a little piece of him in our show. Thank you to the entire Design team who turned the toolbox red in honor of his Western Airlines days My dad was a mechanic and engineer for the Western Airlines and Delta, Our amazing leader Michael Olsen and the amazing @Katie Kaniewski who wrote the episode. Jake Kim storyboarded this episode and it was such a undertaking . He did such honorable work. ICON Creative Studio for the insanely hard work that was put into this episode. Im forever grateful ! Please go watch Tenno's Fastest now playing on Disney + More to come !!!" (backup link) (screenshot)
