"What's his name?"
"Jaalib Brandl."
"I want to meet him. You speak Iscerian, don't you? Talk to the owner."
"I'll see what I can do."
―Fable Astin, to Deke Holman[1]

Iscerian was a language spoken on Iscera,[1] a planet[2] in the Dalchon sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[3] Deke Holman, a Socorran Human member of the Rebel Alliance and a former smuggler and mercenary, also spoke it.[1]

In 0 ABY,[4] Holman and his commanding officer, Captain Fable Astin, attended a performance of the play For the Want of an Empire at a theater on Iscera. During the performance, Astin became intrigued by the lead actor, the Force-sensitive Jaalib Brandl, and his swordfighting skills. Recalling Holman's knowledge of Iscerian, she then asked that he arrange with the theater's owner a meeting with Brandl for her—a request that the Socorran met with grumbling under his breath. Nevertheless, Holman successfully managed to locate Brandl after the spectacle's end and thereby let Astin meet him.[1]

Behind the scenes

Iscerian was mentioned in the short story "Uhl Eharl Khoehng," which was written by Patricia A. Jackson and published in the November 1995 eighth issue of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine.[1]
