The ion capacitor charge was a weapon component that unleashed a burst of ionic energy that could stun organic beings. It could be used in the manufacture of smoke grenades to add an ionic effect to the grenades.[1] By 3 ABY,[2] the Galactic Empire had stored a capacitor in the western turbolaser that guarded its Imperial Comm Station on the Outer Rim moon Toshara.[1]
In 3 ABY,[2] the scoundrel Kay Vess heard the ion capacitor charge that was stored at the turbolaser. She later retrieved the item from turbolaser and used it to the modify her smoke grenades.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ion capacitor charge appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws. The player must obtain the capacitor in order to unlock the "Concussive Smoke" expert ability which causes the player's smoke grenades to stagger enemies.[1]
