- "By projecting a mass shadow from its gravity well projectors, an Interdictor simulates a large planetary body on the extra-dimensional fabric of hyperspace. In practical terms, this prevents any ship from entering hyperspace within the Interdictor's gravity range. Additionally, if any ship intersects with the mass shadow, it would be forced out of hyperspace and into realspace. Interdictors serve a vital role in the Imperial fleet by blocking an enemy from hyperspace. The most common Interdictor in service is the Immobilizer 418, though Imperial Star Destroyers have also been refitted as Interdictor models."

An interdictor, also called an Interdictor ship, was the term used to refer to starships that had the capability of generating Interdiction fields using gravity well projectors.
The Galactic Empire used Interdictor ships, with the most common model being the Immobilizer 418 cruisers. However, some Imperial-class Star Destroyers where refited to become Interdictors,[1] and became known as Interdictor-class Star Destroyers.[2] Other examples of Interdictor vessels included CC-7700 frigates,[3] Eclipse-class dreadnoughts, and Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyers.[4]
