Insignia pins[1] were silver bars[2] of military rank used by officers of the Chiss Ascendancy's military. The pins were worn on the collar of their uniform. In the case of cadets, the pins were absent as they had no official rank yet.[1]
Following the skirmish in the Kinoss system, General Ba'kif promoted Junior Commander Mitth'raw'nuru, core name "Thrawn," two ranks to the rank of Senior Commander, skipping Mid Commander. Mid Captain Irizi'ar'alani, core name "Ziara," was also promoted to Senior Captain. They picked up their new insignia pins from the quartermaster.[1]
During Ziara's promotion ceremony to the flag rank of Commodore, Supreme Admiral Ja'fosk lifted a box and handed it to Ziara, which contained a new commodore's uniform—colored white as opposed to the black uniform she donned her entire career—and the appropriate insignia pins.[1]
