The infantryman's badge was a decoration awarded to soldiers of the army of the Alliance to Restore the Republic upon completing their first combat mission. It was a simple badge featuring a blaster rifle laid upon a laurel wreath, with a small bar attached beneath the rifle's barrel which read "Rifleman" in Aurebesh. The badge was worn by enlisted soldiers and junior officers, and sometimes by senior officers in full dress uniform. Although the badge only identified the wearer as someone who had been in combat, it indicated that the recipient had fought, and likely bled, for the Alliance, making them worthy of respect.[1]

Behind the scenes

The infantryman's badge was introduced in the Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Lead by Example, which was written by John Dunn and published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2016 for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game system.[1]
