- "Imri, aren't you from there?"
"Yes and no. My father was from Genetia, and my mother was from Hynestia, and we lived on both planets before my parents took me to the temple on Hynestia when they discovered I was Force-sensitive. I only remember it a little bit." - ―Vernestra Rwoh and Imri Cantaros
A female individual from[1] the Colonies[2] planet Hynestia lived during the High Republic Era. They raised a human son—Imri Cantaros, who was[1] born around 246 BBY,[3]—with a male individual from[1] the Expansion Region[2] planet Genetia. During Cantaros' childhood, he, along with his parents lived on both Hynestia and Genetia until they discovered he was Force-sensitive. Afterward, Cantaros was taken by his parents to the Jedi Order's temple on Hynestia to be trained as a Jedi.[1]
In 231 BBY,[4] while on the space station Starlight Beacon, Cantaros—now a Jedi Padawan—was introduced to fellow Padawan Reath Silas by his Master, the Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh. During their conversation, Rwoh asked about Silas' recent trip to Genetia before questioning her Padawan if he was from there. In response, Cantaros informed the two of his mother and father, as well as his childhood on both their homeworlds.[1]
Behind the scenes
Imri Cantaros' mother was mentioned in the 2021 young-adult novel The High Republic: Out of the Shadows, written by Justina Ireland and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[5]
