The Imperial Veterans Association was a veteran's affairs organization dedicated to veterans of the Imperial Military,[1] a force composed of seemingly countless beings who served the Galactic Empire,[2] which reigned from 19 BBY to 4 ABY before falling in 5 ABY.[3] The Imperial Veterans Association made use of the Imperial crest,[1] the Empire's symbol.[4] One particular battle honored by the Veterans Association was the Battle of Hoth,[1] an Imperial victory over the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 3 ABY during the Galactic Civil War.[3] In memory of the battle, the association created a poster centering on three All Terrain Armored Transports marching towards the deflector shield generator of Echo Base, with four Alliance snowspeeders pictured engaging the AT-ATs. Additionally, the poster featured two AT-AT pilot helmets at the bottom and four Imperial Star Destroyers overhead at its top.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Imperial Veterans Association was mentioned on artist Mark Daniels' poster "Battle of Hoth," which was released in 2015 to celebrate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[1] The poster was released via Acme Archives Direct and Dark Ink Art in honor of Celebration Anaheim 2015 and the film's anniversary.[5] The organization was first mentioned on Daniels' prior "Battle of Endor" poster from 2013[6] and fits a trend of Daniels making veteran-themed posters for Star Wars anniversaries.[7]
