The Imperial Police Droid was a model of police droid that was in existence during the late Republic Era and went onto be used by the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era, earning the pre-existing droid its Imperial name.
History
At some point after 62 BBY,[4] droids of[2] the police droid model—which would eventually be known as the "Imperial Police Droid"[3] —were used by a Duros criminal as security for a secret[2] casino[5] based out of The Corner Shop on Duro. In that time, two Duros children—Colby and Niro—began disturbing the criminal's customers by throwing around trash and banging metal, distracting the criminal, whom they also annoyed by laughing at. Angered, the criminal called out two security droids[2] of the police droid model,[3] only for an explosion and commotion from inside to interrupt; the two children had been a distraction for the criminal Lazlo, who raided the casino and escaped with a portion of its earnings. The casino owner ordered his two droids to stop Lazlo's gang, but they failed, with the casino owner themself being killed by Lazlo.[2]
The police droid was visually similar to the BX-series droid commandos used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic.[6] In 19 BBY,[7] in the time following the formation Republic into the Galactic Empire and the war's end, the police droids were used on the planet Corellia at a decommissioning facility that dismantled Separatist battle droids.[1] By that time, the droids had become known as "Imperial Police Droids."[3] At the facility, the droids patrolled on rotating quadrant scans. One day, two groups—the former clone commandos of Clone Force 99 and the Martez sisters—infiltrated the facility to retrieve the head of a decommissioned T-series tactical droid in order to acquire its valuable intelligence and a brief struggle between the two resulted in the facility being placed into lockdown. The police droids converged on the intruders, who eventually utilized the tactical droid to reactivate the battle droids. As the battle droids began to destroy the police droids, the clone troopers and the Martez sisters escaped.[1]

- ↑ According to Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, Bane was estimated to be 41 years old in the year 7956 C.R.C., eleven years after the 7945 C.R.C. Boonta Eve Classic of Neva Kee's disappearance. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates that race to 32 BBY, it can be calculated that Bane was born around the year 62 BBY.
