The Medal of Honor was a military decoration granted by the Galactic Empire for service above and beyond the call of duty.[1] The overall design of the medal resembled that of the Medal of the Emperor's Fist.[3] The Rebel Alliance had a similar award named Alliance Medal of Honor.[2]

In 1 ABY,[4] one was awarded to an Imperial-aligned spacer alongside several Imperial supporters for eliminating an Alliance general aboard a Rebel-owned Corellian corvette.[5] The same year, another Imperial Medal of Honor was awarded to an Imperial ace pilot involved in the destruction of the Rebel corvette Radiant Anthem in the Kessel system.[6]

Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
