An imager was a device that one could use to take holographic images of people and places.[1] Two synchronized imagers were used to scan a subject when a holographic recording was created, with a computer combining the recording to generator a full three-dimensional image.[2]

Major Lesim requested such a device after the surrender of Luke Skywalker, famed Rebel hero, so that the former could take a holo of the event.[1]

Wes Janson used a handheld imager to take an image of Derek Klivian in his T-65 X-wing starfighter.[3]
