An identifying code also called an identifying number was used by the Grand Army of the Republic to identify and distinguish different clone troopers. It was inserted into a trooper's left wrist and could link droids, such as astromechs, to a particular trooper's military records in the GAR database.[1] During the early era of the Galactic Empire, Clone X troopers had their identifying markings removed from all databases.[2][3]
