The IV tap, also known simply as an IV, was a surgically-inserted medical device used to quickly administer stimulants into the bloodstream. It consisted of a long tube with a needle at one end, which would be inserted into the blood vessels, and a time-metered dispensary module for stimulants or medicines.
Around 0 ABY, Gheeta, the Shell Hutt, used an IV tap to infuse a rage-provoking stimulant into his bloodstream in his attempt to bring down Boba Fett and his team of bounty hunters. The Ssi-ruuk used IVs to administer drugs into victims before undergoing entechment.
