Huurtons were large, slender, canine creatures native to the planet Dantooine. They were characterized by armored backs and long claws, and were highly aggressive. The females were the hunters. A separate species of huurtons was known as huurton howlers. Some were turned into cyborgs in the Imperial installation Warren, on Dantooine.
