- "Where? To the Singing Mountain? The Howling Crag? Where?"
- ―Falta, to Old Daka asking where the Nightsisters sent her daughter Yenna
The Howling Crag was a Dathomirian witch clan that operated on[2] the Outer Rim Territories[3] planet Dathomir.[2] Like all other Dathomiri clans, the Howling Crag was led by a Mother.[1] Directly after the Battle of Dathomir and the slaughter of the Nightsister clan by the Confederacy of Independent Systems[2] in 20 BBY,[4] the witch of no clan Falta visited the ruins of the Nightsister lair and found the dying[2] Nightsister elder[5] Old Daka. After Daka informed Falta that her daughter Yenna, who had joined the Nightsisters years prior, had been sent off somewhere safe, Falta questioned whether she was sent to the Howling Crag or Singing Mountain clans. In her response to Falta, Daka stated that Yenna had been sent to neither clan, but instead off-planet in an escape pod.[2] Sometime between 20 BBY and 19 BBY,[6] Falta had traveled to the planetoid Sídi, where she recounted her encounter with Daka to the young girl known as "Bug."[2]
Behind the scenes
In the current canon, the Howling Crag was mentioned in "Bug," a short story written by E. Anne Convery and published in the 2020 anthology book, The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the clan appeared in the 2003 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars Galaxies's "Witches of Dathomir Theme Park" event.[7]
