The howler lizard was a type of arboreal lizard that could be found in the jungles around the Massassi Site on the moon Yavin 4[1] in 1 BBY.[2] The reptile's cries could carry for miles.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, howler lizards were mentioned in the 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani.[1]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, howlers were originally created for the 2002 Raven Software video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and can be found in the game's files; however, they were cut from the final version of the game.[3] They then appeared for the first time in Raven Software's 2003 sequel, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.[4]
