- "There's a trader in Bay Three name of Horvins. Don't be put off by his appearance—he's actually a pretty decent sort. Might be willing to give you a lift, wherever you're going. So…"
- ―Rey, to BB-8
Horvins was a male trader who on the planet Jakku operated out of Bay Three in Niima Outpost shortly after the military regime First Order's attack on the village Tuanul[1] in 34 ABY.[2] When the scavenger Rey brought the Resistance droid BB-8 to Niima Outpost the following day after encountering the latter in the Jakku desert, she suggested that Horvins may be willing to give the droid a lift offworld. Rey considered Horvins to be a decent person, in contrast to the other thugs on Jakku, though she also warned the droid not to be put off by Horvin's countenance.[1] BB-8, however, decided to stay with Rey until they were forced to flee the First Order with the defected Stormtrooper Finn.[3]
Behind the scenes
Horvins is mentioned in the adaptations of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, released in 2015.[1] Similar dialogue, without naming the trader, is present in the junior novelization.[4]
