- "We've got the fighters who survived the Tocan system disaster recuperating in Ghorman; they'll be maybe 75% effective in two weeks. Plus, we can strip Tierfon, Homon and Farstey for the other wing, if the Imps hold off on their offensive in that region."
- ―Rebel Alliance Chief of Sector Command
Homon was a Mid Rim planet located in the Homon sector. While the Galactic Empire was carrying out an offensive in Homon's vicinity during the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance Chief of Sector Command suggested during a meeting of the Alliance High Command that the Rebel starfighter base at Homon could be stripped to form a fighter wing for a planned assault on an Imperial base over the planet Mantooine.
Description
Homon was a planet[4] located in the Homon system, a part of the Homon sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1]
History
- "We've got two wings of X- and Y-wings available during that time […] Sector Command says they can scrape up two more—"
"Probably." - ―Rebel Alliance Chief of Starfighter Command and Chief of Sector Command
A Rebel Alliance starfighter base was located at Homon[3] during the early stages of the Galactic Civil War.[4] At some point between 0 ABY and 3 ABY,[5] the Galactic Empire was carrying out an offensive in the region that, in addition to Homon, included[3] the Expansion Region[6] celestial bodies Farstey and Tierfon.[3]
At the 251st meeting of the Alliance High Command held during that time, the Rebel Chief of Sector Command noted that the bases at Farstey, Homon, and Tierfon could be stripped of their starfighters in order to form an additional fighter wing for the purposes of Operation Cobolt,[3] a planned Alliance assault on an Imperial base located in orbit of[7] the Outer Rim Territories[8] planet Mantooine.[9] According to the Chief of Sector Command, however, such relocation of Alliance resources could only be done if the Empire did not continue its offensive in the region containing Homon.[3] Ultimately, the Alliance did draw the starfighters from the Farstey, Homon, and Sumitra sectors[10] and carried out the planned assault.[11]
Behind the scenes
Homon was introduced via mention in "Extract of Minutes from the 251st Meeting of the Alliance High Command," a short companion narrative included in The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, which was authored by Paul Murphy and published in 1990 for use with West End Games's Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[12] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Homon system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square M-7.[2]
