Holoscanners were a type of scanner, capable of detecting dangerous or illegal items without the need for physical searches of individuals or cargo containers. They were used in spaceports and high-security areas across the galaxy. These advanced scanners employ a mix of sensors, energy receptors, and holoimaging to identify almost any type of weapon or contraband. Although certain rare materials like cortosis or nightshadow can evade detection, attentive operators watch for such deceptions. Holoscanners vary in size and shape, from small devices for individual inspections to large machines designed to scan speeders and other sizable objects. The BAS44 Customs-Grade Holoscanner, HB-2 holoscanner, SecureScan 1500, and 7320/H scanning array were models of holoscanners manufactured by, respectively, BAS Research & Development,[2] Fabritech, Tagge Corporation, and Neuro-Saav Technologies.[1]
