The Hewett system was located in the Hewett sector,[1] a part of the New Territories portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It was linked via hyperlanes to the Vectinia system as well as the Er'Kit system in the Outer Rim Territories' Noonian sector.[5]

The Hewett system was home to[4] the sentient Hewett species. Hewett senators represented the system in the Senate of the Galactic Republic[3] by 32 BBY.[6] By 12 ABY, the Hewett system fell within the borders of the New Republic. That year, the forces of the Imperial Remnant triumphed over the New Republic military in a confrontation at the system.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Hewett system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square M-6.[2]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Hewett system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Hewett species.

  6. Episode I Adventures 4: Jedi Emergency establishes that Hewett senators were a part of the Galactic Senate while Qui-Gon Jinn was still alive. Since The New Essential Chronology dates Jinn's death during the Battle of Naboo to 32 BBY, the Hewett must have gained Senate representation by that date.
