- "The HoloNet is nothing but propaganda for politicians. It's not exactly known for its accuracy."
"I don't know. 'Hero with no fear.' I thought I looked pretty dashing there." - ―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker reflect on the title
The title "Hero With No Fear" was a moniker given to Jedi Knight and General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars.[1] After leaping to the aid of Obi-Wan Kenobi during a high-stakes mission on Cato Neimoidia[3] in 22 BBY,[2] transmissions of the heavily-publicized event were circulated across the HoloNet. To the annoyance of his former Jedi Master and fellow Jedi General, Obi-Wan Kenobi, reporters from organizations such as HoloNet News glorified Skywalker and his actions, bestowing the "Hero With No Fear" title upon him as an act of wartime propaganda.[3]
During the war, Skywalker led the elite 501st Legion with the support of his Padawan, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, and his[4] first-in-command,[5] Clone Captain Rex.[4] Rex would become a legendary figure in his own right, becoming considered the hero of the clone army,[6] while Tano would also earn fame herself amongst the Jedi for her skills and apprenticeship to Skywalker.[7] Also notable among Skywalker's circle was Kenobi, with whom he would fight beside as a brother-in-arms; while Skywalker was able to throw himself into combat as the Hero with No Fear,[3] Kenobi earned fame as "the Negotiator" for his skills in diplomacy, ending conflicts before they could even begin or stopping them in their midst.[8] While the Jedi Order as a whole was largely kept out of wartime propaganda at the request of Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, supposedly out of sympathy for the Order's discomfort at being depicted as warriors,[9] Skywalker and Kenobi were widely spread across the Holonet as the faces of the Republic war effort during one stage of the war.[10]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Brotherhood is set between the beginning of the Clone Wars and the Battle of Christophsis, as the novel's plot involves Anakin Skywalker becoming a Jedi Knight, a rank he attained between those events. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates both events to 22 BBY, Brotherhood must be set in that year.
