Heat-flies were a type of fly that lived on Elphrona, a hot[1] Outer Rim[2] planet. The flies featured large, compound eyes that were visibly similar to those of Cyclorrians, a sentient insectoid species. During his training at Elphrona's Jedi outpost in the High Republic Era, Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar often noticed heat-flies buzzing through its halls. While aboard the Elite-class research vessel Innovator[1] in 231 BBY,[3] Zettifar mentally compared the eyes of the Cyclorrian technicians working there to the flies he had noticed on Elphrona.[1]
Behind the scenes
Heat-flies were mentioned in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I and published on June 29, 2021.[4] Prior to its release, a mention of the flies was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on May 21 of that year.[5]
