Harbinger was a Star Destroyer of the Tector-class in service to the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.[1] In 4 ABY,[2] it was the sole Tector-class in the Imperial fleet defending the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station[3] over the Forest Moon of Endor. After Emperor Palpatine lured the Rebel Alliance into assaulting the seemingly incomplete battle station, the Imperial fleet trapped them over the moon.[1]
Right after the Alliance engaged the Imperial ships, the rebel freighter Millennium Falcon flew across the hull of the Star Destroyer.[4] However, after the engagement, the Harbinger was destroyed by advancing Alliance vessels, followed shortly after by the Death Star itself and a large portion of the Imperial fleet.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Harbinger first appeared as an unnamed background Star Destroyer in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[4] It received a name in the short story "The Levers of Power," which was written by Jason Fry and included in the 2015 compilation book The Rise of the Empire.[1]
