Gurks were hairy humanoids native to the planet Lok. Despite their large size and their worrisome appearance, they were very peaceful animals. They ate primarily nuts, berries, and fruit.[1] These creatures were known for their loud yell.[4] The inhabitants of Lok used to capture Gurks and train them for domestic use.[1] The hide of the "Gurk king" was said to be very useful in the construction of armor, especially Reinforced Insulated Sheath armor.[5]
During the Galactic Civil War, the Sulfur Lake Pirates trained a large gurk named the Bridge Troll to guard their hideout on Lok. The creature was later killed by a spacer working for Mako Ghast of the Lok Revenants.[6]
