Gruthic Winged Beasts[2] were large non-sentient creatures having a pair of wings, two heads perched atop long flexible necks, a long tail, scaly gray-green skin and four limbs ending in sharp claws. Their heads featured two white eyes without pupils, a pair of slit nostrils, a nasal horn, a large mouth containing sharp fangs and a pink tongue, and an elongated chin with horn-like growths. When agitated, Winged Beasts emitted shrill, frantic cries.[1]

In 3 BBY,[3] the gangster Tomith Garbis owned one, which he used as a combat mount. That beast notably saw action on the planet of Thune, when Garbis confronted the freedom fighters Sabine Wren and Garazeb Orrelios over a few unclaimed cargo containers.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Gruthic Winged Beast was created by Martin Fisher for "The Thune Cargo," a 12-page comic story that was illustrated by Ingo Römling and published in Star Wars Rebels Magazine 22, on August 2, 2016.[1]
