A groundcar was a wheeled vehicle. The TIE fighter pilot Amara Kel compared the shriek of a TIE fighter's engines to a cross between an angry beast and a groundcar skidding on wet asphalt.[1]

Behind the scenes

The groundcar was mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2020 short story "Amara Kel's Rules for TIE Pilot Survival (Probably)" from the collection From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, authored by Django Wexler.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the groundcar first appeared in the 1995 short story "Hammertong: The Tale of the "Tonnika Sisters"" — Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina from the collection Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, authored by Timothy Zahn.[2]
