Groonor was a Chevin smuggler. Having retired at some point before the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire,[1] by around 3643 BBY[2] he had returned for a final job of delivering weapons through dangerous territory.[1]
Around that year, an individual associated with one of the two rival factions sent a companion of theirs to serve as a security escort for Groonor. The shipment was attacked by pirates, but the companion was able to protect the cargo and saved Groonor's life. Grateful, the Chevin offered them a bonus.[1]
Behind the scenes
Groonor was mentioned in the Crew Skill mission "One Last Job" in the 2011 BioWare video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The information regarding the mission's outcome was later removed from the game.[1]

Star Wars: The Old Republic — Underworld Trading Crew Skill mission: "One Last Job"
- ↑ Per the reasoning here, Act I of Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place around 3643 BBY. Since players of The Old Republic can assign their companions on the mission "One Last Job" independently of the main class storyline at any point during the game, the mission must take place at some point around 3643 BBY.
