"Master. Is there a hypergate down there?"
"Whether there is or isn't—whether anyone knows for sure, or not—doesn't change what you did, Lanoree. If that Gree device had been turned on… well, we might not be here now. Friends. With wine. The whole system might not be here anymore."
Je'daii Ranger Lanoree Brock and Je'daii Master Dam-Powl[1]

The Gree device was a device built from the blueprints of the ancient Gree technology, the purpose of which was to launch the legendary Gree Hypergates. The device, made in the form of a metal ball, used dark matter, and therefore, in theory, could cause a devastating catastrophe.[1]

In 25,793 BBY, the Stargazer cult, ordered this device from scientists at an underground laboratory on the planet Nox in order to use the technology to activate a hypergate on Tython to escape the star system. After receiving the device, the Stargazers traveled to Sunspot to acquire the rare element marionium which they used to charge the device with dark matter. However, the leader of the Stargazers, Dalien Brock, was not destined to put his plan into action—he was killed moments before he could activate the device. The device was then taken to the Temple of Science of the Je'daii Order, Anil Kesh.[1]
