The graul was a large predator from the planet Dantooine. It was the planet's top predator and similar to the rancors of Dathomir except for the skin tone, which tended to be more green, and a pair of horns protruding from its head.^[3]

Grauls could be domesticated by skilled beast masters and used as mounts for transportation.^[4]

History

In 3626 BBY, one graul was known to make its home in the tunnels beneath the ruins of the Jedi Enclave, when it was promptly slain by Aryn Leneer, Arn Peralun and the Commander of the Eternal Alliance.^[5]

During the Galactic Civil War, a spacer fought and killed two graul marauders on Dantooine as part of his trials to become a Jedi Knight.^[6]

Following the Battle of Yavin, the collector Kakirk tasked a group of spacers to hunt and kill an unreasonable number of grauls.^[7]

Grauls appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,^[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.^[8] They were originally designed for use on the planet Dathomir as a rival to the fearsome rancors, but the designers later chose to relocate them to Dantooine.^[3] Grauls were made craftable mounts for players with the release of the "Chapter 6" update, on May 22, 2007.^[9]

For the 2021 Update 6.3 of the Onslaught digital expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic, a temporary model was used for the graul in the Public Test Server. The creature possessed a brown, armored body, and two horns portruded from its head. Horns were also featured on the graul's elbows.^[10]
