The Grapnel was a starship captained by Wan'yek Whett and crewed by a fishing crew.[1]
Description
The Grapnel was described by former first mate Skoova Stev as being large and sharp like the nose of a bony fish, and as having three claw-like legs for landing gear.[1]
History
While the precise origins of the ship are unknown, the Grapnel was stolen from an unknown location and owner by the Besalisk Dread Captain Wan'yek Whett and his vile fishing crew, to serve as their spaceship and fishing vessel.[1]
During the time of the Great Fish Famine, the Grapnel landed on the icy world of Sakavi Tar. With the crew intending to plunder the vast oceans underneath the planet's icy surface, a Sakavian fisherman named Skoova Stev struck a deal with Whett to join his crew on the Grapnel and lend him his fishing expertise, on the condition that they not fish on his starving homeworld. Whett agreed, and the Grapnel departed from Sakavi Tar with its' new crew member.[1]

Whilst still in orbit of Sakavi Tar, the Grapnel was hailed by a ship of lawmen, who had identified the Grapnel as a stolen ship as indicated by the ship's transponder codes. After initially offering to surrender and allowing the Grapnel to be boarded, Captain Whett skewered the lawmen with a harpoon, killing them all and allowing the Grapnel and her crew to continue their journey unimpeded.[1]
The Grapnel continued its' prolific fishing expedition for several years throughout the Outer Rim Territories. A year after the events on Sakavi Tar, Skoova Stev was promoted to first mate of the Grapnel.[1]
At some point after Stev's promotion, the Grapnel was en route to the ocean world of Manaan, where the crew intended to sell the carcass of a gooberfish. Upon exiting hyperspace, the Grapnel crashed straight into a wandering Purrgil, causing the ship to sustain massive damage to the hull and plummet to the floor of the ocean on the planet below. With the Grapnel being sundered on the bed of the ocean, Whett, Stev, and the rest of the Grapnel's crew were forced to abandon ship and inmediately encountered the FIlthy Zephyrs, a band of Quarren pirates who attempted to raid them. After a confrontation, the crew made their escape by stealing the Zephyrs' pirate schooner, leaving the Grapnel to its' sunken fate.[1]

The Grapnel was first mentioned in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor which released on April 28, 2023 and is mentioned in Skoova's storyline.[1]
