After the onset of the Clone Wars, a medal was awarded to new clone cadets upon graduation from their training at the clone military education complex on Kamino, after which they became official clone troopers. After successfully completing the Citadel Challenge, the cadets of Domino Squad all received medals, at which time CT-782, nicknamed "Hevy," entrusted his medal to the malformed clone, 99, as a symbol of their friendship.

Behind the scenes

Graduation medals first appeared in Star Wars canon in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' third season premiere, "Clone Cadets". One of the medals featured in "Clone Cadets" appeared again in the subsequent episode, "ARC Troopers."
