Gorths were a type of creature with a tail that attracted flies. When New Republic pilot Norra Wexley flew through the innards of the second Death Star battle station during the Battle of Endor[1] in 4 ABY,[2] she mentally compared the TIE/ln space superiority starfighters that swarmed after her to flies on a gorth's tail.[1] Later that year,[2] she remembered the comparison in a dream while on the planet Akiva.[1]

Gorths were mentioned in the 2015 novel Aftermath, which was written by Chuck Wendig as the first installment in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1]
