"We're looking for spice, you gorm-worms, not some vape-chaser's memory box!"
―Devlin criticises Shrove's confiscation of the strongbox[1]

Gorm-worms were a type of worm. After Commission for the Preservation of the New Order agent Paramiah Shrove confiscated a spacer's strongbox in the Chorlian sector because it contained the book that would become known as the Smuggler's Guide, Chief Imperial Inspector Hedge Devlin left a note on the box's intake form criticizing Shrove for confiscating objectionable literature instead of spice and calling the agent a gorm-worm.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, gorm-worms were first mentioned on a supplemental item included in the deluxe edition of the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, which was written by Daniel Wallace.[1] The worms originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 1993 comic book Tales of the Jedi 3, which was written by Tom Veitch and illustrated by Janine Johnston.[2]
