Goldsmythe was an individual who served as a moff within the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era and led forces.[1] In 5 ABY,[2] as the Empire prepared to make its last stand on[1] the Inner Rim[3] world Jakku, Goldsmythe and his forces deserted the Empire. The moff's desertion was later reported to Grand Admiral[1] Rae Sloane,[4] who in turn informed[1] Counselor to the Empire Gallius Rax[4] about the development. Rax noted it came as a mild surprise, having suspected Goldsmythe's weakness and declared his desertion a "small loss."[1]

As the counselor began to talk about the moff's forces, Sloane added that General Stansel Malgreen had not responded to communications.[1] She[4] then noted that the Empire's deserters had begun to mount at a critical point, when they needed to execute their plan to perfection, and that their strategy was proving flawed.[1]

Goldsmythe was mentioned in the second issue of the 2024 comic limited series Star Wars: Battle of Jakku — Last Stand released as part of the Star Wars: Battle of Jakku event. The issue was written by Alex Segura and published by Marvel Comics[1] on January 8, 2025.[5]
